I always ask my fellow women friends who & what inspires them in the clothing department! I love to see these 'collections' out in & about in everyday life! I myself love mixing vintage with new, retro with antique & everything else in between. I never had one specific genre I tried to emulate. Movies of course often influenced my personal style growing up along with vintage magazines! I always looked for strong women that did their own thing but in a big way! I took little from each and sprinkled them on me to create my personal style! So recently I was putting together a new collection of clothing for Sweet Devine Design & I used my love of clothes & those that I look up to for inspiration. Growing up I adored Carmen Miranda. Everything about that woman made my eyes light up! Her talent,wardrobe,style,dancing...HER HAIR!!!!!! Forever I wanted 'Carmen Miranda Bangs' & after watching a ton of her movies & practicing till my hands almost fell off & mastering a curling iron along with setting my hair well ta-da I taught myself! I have to say its one of my most favorite hair styles to date! I try to mix & match it with whatever I happen to be wearing! I often pair bright colors this hairstyle as my little extra love to Carmen! I loved all the bright colors she wore, the fruit baskets for hats & extravagant outfits!!!!!!!!!

The unforgettable Frida Kahlo accomplished so much in her short life. Her art has left a permanent yet beautiful mark on this world. I often think of her as a tattoo that never fades. I find myself just gazing at her pictures to just to see what she is wearing matched to the expressions on her face. She had such exquisite style! Her jewelry has always left me in awe! I have started collecting vintage 1940s Mexican Aztec inspired jewelry because of Frida. One of my wonderful & talented gal pals; Frances recently started making resin necklaces & was kind enough to gift me a Frida inspired one! I wear it often & I have to stay it really does cheer me up to have her close to my heart & of course for inspiration!

I Love Lucy & Ricky!!!
I Love Lucy & I Love Ricky!
Growing up I Love Lucy was one of my favorite shows! I was crazy in love & did my best to never miss a rerun episode! Lucy inspired me in so many ways! When I was a little girl I spent time living with my Grandparents in Mexico. We had a small t.v. set that only had 3 channels and I had the choice of watching two actual t.v. shows: Transformers & I Love Lucy. Yes I was hooked on both and still am to this day! Lucy became apart of my life from early on all the way till my teenage years and to the day I became a business woman! Growing up in high school I simply adored her! Every trip to the thrift store was a new adventure to find a big swing polka dot dress or two tone loafers that Ricky always wore! I got the nick name 'Dottie' when I was 14 for all the polka dot clothing I wore! Thank you Lucy! Aside always tuning in to 'I Love Lucy' for all the fashion & hair/makeup I loved so dearly, I really adored the relationship between Ricky & Lucy! Playful,sweet and just funny! I did all the research I could on the pair and every detail always made me feel like I knew them in a way even though I didn't! I have always loved how well they photograph next to one another! Black & Whites of the pair are the ones I hold close to my heart! They always seem to capture a moment not just in time but in love! Lucy & Ricky love!!!!

Lately I have been a busy bee in & out of the Brown Magic Paint Co. studio & getting everything ready for Sweet Devine Design! I always have Netflix in the background while I work and I was so excited to see the Lucy movie was listed for instant viewing! Watching Lucy inspired me & all the creative juices started following! I wanted to design & paint a pair of Lucy & Ricky Beauty Queen Ballet Flats! I ran to Mando told him my idea & of course he said yes just come up with a sketch & he will paint them first change he gets! I was so excited over the next day I worked really hard to get the sketches just right & to stay true to the original cartoon of the pair!
